We believe in growing our team in-house, nurturing diverse legal talent and expertise. Our attorneys primarily join the firm after working for us as candidate attorneys. We are aware that a skilled team is crucial to success, thus the recruitment process is selective.

Duration of Articles
GMI offers a two year article contract, irrespective of whether a candidate has completed full time law school
Exposure to practices
The firm has a rotation system in place whereby candidate attorneys rotate to different legal practices within the firm on a six monthly basis. Rotation is subject to available positions within a practice and dependent on the practice requirements within the firm from time to time.
Retention policy
Although candidate attorneys are not guaranteed appointments as associates on completion of their term of articles, we believe in organically growing our professional talent from within. Many of our attorneys joined the firm as candidate attorneys.

Application for Articles
Our people are our first and foremost pillar of success. That is why it is important that we appoint the right people. If you are an empowered individual seeking to join our GMI team as a candidate attorney, please apply below. Applications need to reach us by the 15 March of each year. Applications received after this date will be considered for the following year.
If you would like to apply for articles, please submit the following requirements:
- Your full Curriculum Vitae
- Your National Senior Certificate
- Your full academic transcript
- A copy of your Identity Document
The screening process and interviews will be conducted during April of each year for appointment in the following year. Successful applicants will be contacted during this time and invited for a personal interview.

Our Vacation Programme offers aspiring legal professionals a unique opportunity to experience life inside a dynamic and fast-paced law firm. Running over a period of 2 - 4 weeks, the programme is designed to provide students with practical, hands-on exposure to the legal profession and the day-to-day workings of a legal practice.
Participants will work alongside some of our most skilled Attorneys while also engaging directly with our Candidate Attorneys to gain valuable insight into the expectations, challenges, and rewards of pursuing a career in law. From observing legal processes to contributing to real matters, the programme is structured to give students meaningful and immersive exposure to the profession.
While participation in the programme does not guarantee a position as a Candidate Attorney, it offers an invaluable glimpse into the realities of legal practice and helps students build the confidence, knowledge, and professional understanding needed for their future careers.
